What is a dissertation abstract and how it should be written?

An abstract provides an overview of a whole thesis within one or two pages. The abstract presents to the reader an idea about the research conducted for the exposition. In many instances writing a dissertation abstract can be more troublesome than writing the report itself because of the limited availability of space. Therefore it has to be as concise as possible and should present the overall summary of the research in a single page. The length and contents of the executive summary differ from university to university. May of the universities require short and concise reflections of the various chapters of the research while others require a summary of the overall report. An abstract should be written in such a way that it reflects what the report is actually about and how the research aim and objectives have been accomplished. It should be written so effectively that it motivates the reader to read the whole report but it should not be more than 400 or 500 words in length or a maximum of two pages but usually universities require it to be no longer than one page.
