A dissertation comprises of a
variety of chapters and the number of these chapters is normally dependent on the
guidelines and handbooks provided by different universities and institutions. Whatever
the number of chapters may be, some chapters are a necessity simply because a
thesis would not be complete without their inclusion in the report. One of
these necessary chapters is the research
methodology dissertation as it explains the approaches, paradigms,
methods and tools the researcher has used throughout the research. As a
dissertation basically explains the aspects of a research, the manner in which
the research has been conducted is essential and necessary. If the chapter is
excluded from the report a reader will never be able to understand how the
research was conducted which will primarily undermine the reliability of the
research as well as the report. The reader will not be able to know how the
researcher collected the data, where the data was acquired from and how it was
analyzed. It will also be impossible to determine how a specific conclusion was
derived from a research. This means that the research methodology chapter is
not only beneficial for a dissertation but is in fact a necessity.
